After a two-week deserved break, am not only back with a new post, but also with a video on how I detangle and prepoo my natural hair 😉 I must say that ever since I started this blog, I have faced so many unique challenges which have unraveled great potential I didn’t even know I had. blogging can be quite tough and when I started blogging about my hair, I knew that I would have to up my game and venture into the vlog-sphere because I would like to show you guys some of the things I do and not only talk about them. Starting out is not only nerve wrecking but also time consuming as I had to learn the art of video editing from scratch. (*screams).
After a number of trials and errors, I decided to upload my first video with all the imperfections it might still have. I have had to constantly remind myself that I should strive for progress and not perfection. Continuous improvement is better than delayed perfection 🙂
I started with the very basics i.e. how I prepoo and detangle my hair. Prepoo is basically an oil-treatment that comes right before washing your hair. I touched on why you should prepoo on my previous post here but it doesn’t hurt to repeat the same. 🙂 Our natural hair is made up of protein which gives it the strength and every time we wash the hair, there is a risk of loosing a bit of the protein. An oil treatment using oils that can penetrate the hair strand would be very vital to help in reduction of protein loss. I use coconut oil because of its actually one of the oils with protein content that can penetrate the hair strand.
On the other hand, detangling before you wash will help reduce hair loss when you want to comb after washing the hair. Dealing with tangled hair can be quite hard and frustrating especially after washing. To detangle, you can gently separate the strands with your hands or with a wide tooth comb working from the ends to the roots till you can run your fingers through your hair. To easen the process, I use a conditioner which softens the hair strands.
